About

Let’s face it… we don’t always get it right.

Your wife is looking at you like she could light you on fire…

What the hell just happened? You have no idea what you said, or what you didn’t say, to land in such hot water. Ouch! “Maybe I should just leave” you think. “Give her some space,” you tell yourself. But then the other thoughts come tumbling in…

You: “She will be so pissed if you walk out that door.”

Also You: “Just comfort her; show her you love her.”

You: “Yeah right, I am not getting close; she is a prickly pear right now. I don’t want to go near that!”

Also You: “Fuck! How did I get here? This sucks. I can never do anything right. I am so over this.”

You: “I love her so much, I just don’t know how to fix this… how to make it better… what is wrong with me?”

Sometimes we get lost.

Hell, sometimes we don’t even know where we are headed, let alone getting lost along the way.

How are you supposed to figure this out when everything that you knew to be true no longer works?

The ways you used to think about yourself don’t seem to be true. You used to have so much confidence, but now are riddled with worry and doubt. When did that happen?

If you knew why this was happening, at least you wouldn’t feel so clueless. But you are suddenly finding yourself in new territory, and it is disorienting…

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a roadmap of sorts?

To find your way?

To understand better not only the people in your life, but also yourself?

That is what I do!

My job as a therapist is to help you figure this stuff out, so you can make sense of it, make choices, and move on (preferably toward your goals/dreams/values/etc.)

Admitting you are lost is not easy, nor is asking for directions.

But, it sure as hell beats driving in circles, fighting with your wife about where to turn, with the kids screaming in the backseat.

I help make this process a little easier, a little less painful, a little less lonely.

When we work together, you will learn how to understand yourself, so you can learn to understand others. I will help you clarify your needs and wants, as well as the barriers that get in the way of those things.

We will figure it out… there is no doubt in my mind.

How do I know?

Because this is what I do for a living! Because I “get” people, and I am curious enough to keep digging to find out what’s causing your problems in the first place.

You might be the head of your household or head of your company; but in here with me, you can just be you. I will guide you, so you can take a little break. I can’t (and won’t) do all of the work, but I don’t expect you to do it all, or know how to do it all. We will figure it out together.

Eventually, you will have more insight about your thoughts, your feelings, and your behavior.

Things will start to click, and you won’t feel in the dark like you used to. Remember, my goal is to work myself out of a job, not to keep you in therapy forever!

At some point, our work will be done! Yay! Imagine that… actually feeling better…

I work with people who want to change.

Not everyone is ready, and I get that.

You don’t have to come to therapy. No one is forcing you. Trust me, I get it. I am avoidant, too. Sometimes, I don’t want to feel my feelings and would rather just think my way through it.

I often try and quit therapy. Really, I do get it. But I keep showing up because I believe in this work (and yeah, I am totally biased because I am a therapist).

I am not perfect, and sometimes I get it wrong. I am human. If you are looking for a real therapist, we will be a great match. Call me today, and let’s talk.

About Me

I went to school, got licensed, blah, blah, blah.

You can read all that boring stuff at the bottom of this page if that’s your thing.

I am a California native but have travelled quite a bit abroad and have lived in New England. I am married and have a son. I love the beach, but my heart belongs to the mountains – it’s my secret dream to live in a camper van in the woods (I have a Pinterest board to prove it).

I love to read, but of course take it too far with reading challenges and turn it into a sport. FML. I am also competitive, if you didn’t already pick up on that.

I love to run, both with my best running friends and alone, listening to podcasts about running.

Here’s the technical stuff…
