Anxiety

Breaking News!

Third Way Counseling (TWC) lands an exclusive interview with Anxiety. In this candid tell-all, Anxiety finally opens up about his passions, his regrets, and what inspires him to keep working.

TWC: So, you have been getting a lot of attention lately, especially with the way that social media has taken over our lives.

Anxiety: Oh, yeah! Social media. What a godsend! The constant comparison and self-doubt it creates works wonders for me. I get permanent residence in the best heads because of social media. And it makes my job so much easier. I barely have to do anything anymore. What a treat!

TWC: What inspires you?

Anxiety: Fear… hands down. Good ol’ fear. And I am not picky… I will take any kind: fear of failure, fear of success, fear of uncertainty, fear of judgment, fear of being perceived as a “fraud.” Fear reminds me that I will always have a home inside the mind, and it inspires me to really give it everything I got when it comes to worry and self-doubt. And don’t even get me started on trust!

TWC: It seems as though everyone these days knows you and has a relationship with you.

Anxiety: I love my job! I keep everyone on their toes, constantly tending to me. I love all the attention I get. I mean, I have gained access in ways you wouldn’t believe. It used to be that I really just worked with those who had low self-esteem and confidence, but these days I get to work with EVERYONE! I mean… I couldn’t be more grateful.

TWC: Is there anything that worries you?

Anxiety: Well, to be honest, the only thing that really concerns me are people like you – people who take the time to see past all the hard work I do and get to all those other feelings. But the good news, for me at least, is that most people are too afraid to change. I really have worked my way so far into their lives that they can’t even begin to think about not having me around… so I’m not too worried.

TWC: Do you have any regrets?

Anxiety: No. Regret and I have a special deal worked out. He scratches my back; I scratch his. It really is win-win.

TWC: Anything else you would like to add?

Anxiety: I want everyone to know that I am working for them. It is my job to be a constant presence in their lives, so they can feel safe. I mean, they aren’t any safer with me around, but I make people feel safe. And they need that. The world can be a scary place. When I am around, people don’t have to deal with uncertainty… they don’t have to actually face their fears. Their lives stay small, they can avoid anything that makes them uncomfortable, and that is powerful.

You can relate…

You’re tired of staying small… everything and everyone can seem so intimidating. Doubting whether you’re up to the challenges; there are other people out there who are “bigger” and “better” than you.

Of being afraid… the worst-case scenario always pops up. And once it’s there, you can shut your mind off from thinking about it.

Of feeling like you lean on others too much, not stepping out or taking chances on things that really matter to you.

Subtle shifts…

We’ll tackle your anxiety head on. We’ll figure out what you are really afraid of and find ways to challenge all those negative, self-limiting thoughts.

I’ll help you identify what’s holding you back, so you can break free and let the work you do actually propel you forward.

I find that most clients have one foot on the gas and one on the brake. We will work to understand why your foot is on the brake, so we can free you up to actually move forward – to make real changes.

You get to decide…

You get to decide when you are ready. The work isn’t easy, but only you can determine the price you pay for staying stuck. You are the only one who really feels the cost.

I am here and ready to help.
